Performing Arts

The performing arts can be powerful force for good in our society.

Virginia B. Toulmin knew from a young age the importance of music and art. The performing arts can be a powerful force for good in our society — promoting creativity, collaboration, and a deep connection across differences. There has been a long history of discrimination and exclusion of female creators in music, theater and ballet. We support organizations that prepare girls and women for careers as composers, playwrights and choreographers and that commission and perform their work.

We invest in organizations like Opera America and the League of America Orchestras, that give equal opportunities to female composers.
